Rummage Copyright and Takedown Policy
Last updated: [DATE]
Draft. This document is being finalised and may change before Rummage launches.
We respect other people's intellectual property and expect Rummage users to do the same.
What Rummage stores
Rummage lets people import recipes from web links, social posts and photographs of printed recipes into their own private account, for their own personal use. We do not publish users' content or make it visible to other users. [UPDATE this policy if sharing features are ever added — that changes the risk and the process.]
Recipes are often partly protected: a plain list of ingredients is generally not copyrightable, but the written method, descriptions, photographs and the selection and arrangement of a recipe can be. Imported recipes show their source where we know it.
Reporting a problem
If you believe content in Rummage infringes your copyright or another right, email support@rummage.kitchen with the subject "Copyright notice" and include:
- Who you are and how to contact you.
- What the work is and where the original is published (a link, if possible).
- Where the infringing material is in Rummage, with enough detail for us to find it (for example the recipe title and, if you know it, the account email).
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement that the information is accurate, and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner.
- Your signature (typing your full name is fine).
What we do
- We will review a complete notice promptly and may remove or disable access to the material, and tell the account holder.
- We may remove material first and ask questions after where it is clearly infringing.
- Where a user disputes a removal, they may send a counter-notice to the same address explaining why they believe the removal was a mistake or that they have the right to use the material. We may share it with the person who reported the issue.
- We may close the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe.
Knowingly making a false claim can have legal consequences, so please report only in good faith.
Trademarks
Other companies' names and marks (for example TikTok, Instagram, and recipe publishers) appear in Rummage only to describe what users can import from. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by them. If you think we are using your mark improperly, email us at the address above.
Other legal requests
For anything else — a privacy request, a legal request — email support@rummage.kitchen.
